Lisa has brought a fresh sound to many wonderful nightspots in Oklahoma City since she helped a downtown bistro begin an outdoor patio back in 2003. At the time OKC was just on the cusp of an ever-expanding downtown, and Lisa had written just a handful of songs that she had rarely shared. Well, growth and change are good. To see the growth of OKC over the last 4 years is exciting. And Lisa has been growing in her own right. Finding a little more confidence in what she has to share, Lisa expands her music and "writes with honesty and sings from the soul." The past few years have kept her busy. When not in school (she's a special ed teacher), she's been playing nonstop for various events in her metro area. Political parties, civic events, fundraisers...anything she believes in & supports.
She's also racked up a nice little list of venues elsewhere around the country: Momo’s and Agave on Sixth in Austin, Portland State University, Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles, UCO Jazz Lab, Cosmic Pizza in Eugene, Californo's in Kansas City, Gramazio’s in Boulder, the Blue Pepper in Salem, Lakewood Grill in Dallas, The Stage in Nashville, and Sqwire’s in St. Louis.
Fast forward to now: Lisa has just released her second recording produced by local indie rocker Judson Layne at Travis Linville & Mike McClure’s Dirtybird studios. She's also travelling around the US this spring & summer, performing as part of a popular children's festival. The creative process is most evident in these situations, as the children engage & join in the music. Lisa knows that music is important, and it's an addiction that she has no plans of giving up. That is, as long as this little journey is as fun and free-spirited as when it first began. |
